Suggested Language for Making a Bequest to SUNY Delhi

I (we) give, devise and bequeath $___________ (or percent of estate, or a tangible asset) to The College Foundation at Delhi or its successor organizations established to support the mission of SUNY Delhi.

To further define your gift, please add #1 or #2:

  1. This bequest is an unrestricted gift and is to be used for purposes designated by the Board of Directors of the College Foundation at Delhi (Foundation), a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York.
    - or -
  2. If the total funding is more than the current required endowment, this gift is to be used to establish the (name of the annual or endowed fund). For an endowed fund, the gift shall constitute the principal which shall be invested in accordance with the College Foundation investment policy. The annual earnings from this fund are to be expended in perpetuity by the Foundation in accordance with the donor's signed agreement or at the discretion of the members of The College Foundation at Delhi.

Notes on the above:

#1 is an unrestricted gift that allows the Foundation Board of Directors to consider the college strategic plan, the wishes of the current President and the long term goals of the Foundation within its mission to manage the endowment and provide program support for the college. This could include equipment, start-up costs for a new academic program, supplementing existing scholarships or any other strategic effort that enhances SUNY Delhi and is not funded by SUNY Delhi operating dollars. Operating dollars include tuition, student fees and approximately 20% of our necessary funds from New York State.

#2 is a restricted gift. We request that the donor and Executive Director of The College Foundation at Delhi sign an agreement to describe the donor's intent.
